Our mission is to identify future leaders among foster care youth, and to empower them to reach their leadership capacity and creative potential.
Home of Champions is a unique program in Upstate New York that identifies leaders emerging from the foster system and supports them towards becoming champions of their best lives. At Home of Champions, discharged foster youth have access to opportunities, resources and mentoring to gain the knowledge necessary to live an active, consistent and sustained life style needed to become responsible leaders, change makers and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
We partner with existing workforce business development programs via weekday workshops and weekend retreats.
Our vocational training provides onsite training, including GED, health care, extracurricular activities and more.
We organize volunteer and internship opportunities for our youth through community partnerships.
We believe the best way to cultivate leadership and prepare younger generations for future challenges is to develop the right character. At Home of Champions, our goal is to continue the legacy of our historic property by working to emphasize the positive attributes of disconnected youth, challenging them to match Patterson, Mohammad Ali, and Johansson’s tenacious spirit and perseverance, and empowering them to become the best versions of themselves.
Home of Champions is for young adults, 16 – 24 years old, who are discharged from the foster care system into a trade school or college and need the support system to graduate and become independent citizens.
After a thorough evidence-based screening process, our youth will receive work and/or vocational plans in partnership with our educational team and community. We partner with existing workforce business development and vocational programs to provide onsite training, utilizing classroom and green space for curricula. These programs include GED, culinary arts, community gardening and horticulture, health care, extra curricular activities such as boxing, internships, volunteer opportunities, and other services will also be coordinated through community partnerships.
